Day 3

6/4/14

Tookey Creek to Warrumbungle national park

Hi guys, my name is Tim
Today we were planning to leave at 8:30 but we left late because the winch broke and we had to get it fixed which took about an hour. When we finally got on the road we headed to the Australia telescope and spent an hour there just looking at the array and surrounds. After we got on the road again we started looking for the Sandstone Caves which is signed very poorly and had to do a U-turn after we flew by the exit at approximately 105km/h but at the time we didn't know that it was the exit, so after the U-turn we slowed down to get to the Sandstone Caves exit we got the Truck onto its first proper dirt road! After the walk which took about 20 minutes we were on the road out of the Sandstone Caves we gave way to a seriously over-size truck carring what looked like a giant pully of some sort. We drove up a steep hill, down a steep windy hill and came to a camp ground in Warrumbungle national park which is where we are now.
