Day 23

26/4/14

Gulgong to Wallangarra

Hi guys, my name is Tim
Today we had another driving day and not much of interest happened today but what was interesting really was interesting. So first we packed up the van and drove down the road for a bit until we got stopped by a herd of cattle ambling down the road. After the cattle had ambled away we continued on until we were met by a lumpy road that went for about 50km. After the road we went up a really steep hill, and then proceeded to go down the really steep hill (Mum telling Dad to slow down all the way down), getting down safely we looked around and saw mountains everywhere. We had lunch at Tamworth (not a RV friendly town) and proceeded on. After I missed several cool things because I had my head stuck in my Kindle but saw some balancing rocks! Not long after that we found a campsite just inside QLD borders.

Day 22

25/4/14

Canberra to Gulgong

Hi guys, my name is Tim
Here is the fast track of our day: woke up at 5:00, packed up, drove, had lunch, drove, set up, had dinner, went to bed. That's how our day went. Nothing exciting (at least what I saw).

Day 21

24/4/14

Canberra to Canberra

Hi guys, my name is Tim
Today we got up and Into the car and headed to Mt Stromlo observatory which was destroyedin the 2003 fires. After we explored Mt Stromlo we went to the Royal Australian Mint were we had a tour. On the tour we were told about the history of coins and currency in Australia. After the tour we watched a short video on the workings of the Mint. When we had bought our souviners we drove to the War Memorial and had a look around, I joined a tour that was almost finished and got some useless (maybe) but interesting information. After the information boost we went had lunch, when Sarah had finished her pie we headed back inside and explored the main building and went through the wars that Australia had participated in. Wandering through the Memorial affected Dad more than he would care to admit. When the Memorial was explored we got into the car and went to a geysers that we saw at Parliment House yesterday. Turns out that the geyser thing was a memorial to Captian Cook. Here's the most exciting thing that happened all day: Mum doing a cartwheel!!

Day 20

23/4/14

Jugiong to Canberra

Today we packed up and left and headed to Canberra to look at parliament house and the war memorial because we couldn't remember anything from the A.C.T at all. When we got to Canberra we went to a caravan park and then went to parliament house and got in just in tine for a guided tour which we proceeded to go and join. On the tour we went through the House of Representatives and the tour guide gave a talk about it, our next room was the Senate and then we got a talk from our tour guide again about the room. When the tour was finished we headed to the roof to check out the view which was impressive. When we left Parliament House we went to the War Memoral but it was closed but we still got an impressive shot of the Parliment House. When we got back to the caravan we had dinner and went to bed.

Day 19

21/4/14

Melbourne to Jugiong

Hi guys, my name is Tim
Today was yet another driving day. Here's the fast track: woke up, packed caravan up, drove, had lunch, drove, stretched our legs, drove, found a free camp, unpacked caravan, had dinner, went to bed. As you can see we did a lot of driving today and not much else, we drove for a total of 8 hours luckily I got Dad to get Catching Fire on his iPad a couple of days ago so I had that to starve off boredom. That's all that happened today of interest. Fun day (not).

Day 18

20/4/14

Melbourne to Melbourne

Hi guys, my name is Tim
Today we walked around Melbourne center and surrounds. To start off we found a car park that was near a tram stop that the city circuit went on, our first tram wasn't crowded but we still had to stand up instead of sitting down. Our first stop was at the the shopping center that holds the shot tower and then went to the state library to look at the reading room and the exhibitions. Emily found the entire thing boring (she says) and Sarah found it interesting and boring at the same time (she also says), I on the other hand found the entire library opressive but interesting. When we left the library we went on another tram and almost immediately got off again along with most of the other people when the tram started going the opposite direction to what we wanted to go. We wanted to go to the Fitzroy gardens and had to go through china town to get there. When we got to the gardens we went to the conservatory. In the conservatory it was really hot, humid and green (I wanted to get out as soon as I got in there). After we had taken our photos we headed out the back and saw a sculpture of Diana and her hounds (she didnt have anything on from the waist up) and whent to cooks cottage. The cottage wasn't very interesting but we saw some red thing in the distance and decided to go and investigate it. Turns out that the red thing was a slide in the shape of a dragon which Sarah instantly decided to go and play on. The next interesting thing was a fairy tree that had figures carved into it around the tree there was free books to take. Next to the tree was a model tudor village that England gave us for giving them food after ww2. Next we went to A.C.M.I at federation square, it wasnt very interesting but there were computer games to play. After I had my fill of games we had to go and find a tram that would take us back to the car, finally after 20 minutes of wating we found a city circle tram that would take us back to our car but it was packed and we had to wait until people came out so we could get on. After our tram trip we got back into the car and drove to a Japanese restaurant and had dinner then went home and to sleep.

Day 17

20/4/14

Melbourne to Melbourne

Hi guys, my name is Tim
I am not going to post days 11, 12, 13 and 14 mainly because I can't rember what happend on those days. Today the girls got ready for the dancing competition phase 2 while Dad and I tried (and failed) to stay out of the way. After the girls were ready we all piled into the car and drove to the venue that was hosting the 'Champion of Champions Championship of Australia' and left when the girls and their stuff was unloaded. First we found a park (took some searching) and went to the state library and found out that it only opened at 10:00 (this was about 9:00) so we (Dad and I) went through China town and found Gog and Magog but they weren't going to ring their bells any time soon (it was about 9:20). Leaving Gog and Magog behind we wandered back to the library and watched some people play chess for about 10 minutes until the library opened, when the library opened we (like all good tourists) walked inside and I was instantly struck by the sacredness of the reading room. After we had explored the library and found an exibition on Ned Kelly we went down the lift and into the kids section were there was a giant chess set where we played against each other and I won for the first time in my living memory! Anyway when we left the library it was about time to go and pickup the girls from the compotition and go home. When the girls were loaded we went home and went to sleep.
